About John Pinto
President and CEO
What He Does at Pentegra:
An integral part of Pentegra’s management team since 1991, John has played a vital role in shaping the culture of the Pentegra organization and upholding the values—integrity, responsibility and a focus on our clients’ success—essential to the Pentegra brand. His vision has helped lead the organization to become one of the nation’s largest multiple employer plan providers and longest-serving institutional fiduciaries.

What He Likes Best About His Job:
John’s creative talent and energy have been the driving force in continually expanding and improving the company’s s retirement plan solutions. As a result of his strategic insight and business acumen, the Pentegra organization succeeded in a number of significant acquisitions, doubling in size, with nearly $15 billion in assets under management today.
What He’s Been Up To At Pentegra:
With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, he spent much of his career not only developing strategic plans, but also executing tactical solutions. Prior to becoming Pentegra’s President and CEO, Pinto was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for overseeing Pentegra’s defined contribution operations, defined benefit operations, and information technology and finance areas. He first joined the organization in 1991 as Comptroller and quickly rose to the position of Treasurer in 1994. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2001, and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2008. In 2009, he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
He Got His Start at:
Kings College, where he earned a B.S. degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He also holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Sacred Heart University.

About Robert D. Alin
First Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
What He Does at Pentegra:
As our chief legal officer, Robert oversees Pentegra’s legal, compliance and governance areas, and leads a team devoted to regularly consulting with clients regarding ERISA issues, IRS, DOL and PBGC regulations and their impact on plan design and qualification, as well as plan compliance. With more than 35 years of experience in all facets of retirement benefits, Robert has been involved in every aspect of our business. His talents extend beyond that–he was also instrumental in procuring a change to Section 413(c) of the Internal Revenue Code and in obtaining a prohibited transaction exemption for Pentegra—which is no small feat—both of which have been integral to the growth of the business.

What He Likes Best About His Job:
Robert is an all-around great person to work with, and really enjoys helping clients and his peers navigate the complexities of the compliance world, especially when it comes to making legal jargon understandable. He has counseled clients on qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, welfare benefit plans, and compensation arrangements.
What He Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra:
Robert was in private practice specializing in all facets of employee benefits and tax law, and served as a professor in employee benefits at the Adelphi University Lawyer’s Assistant Program. He also has been a frequent lecturer in the field of employee benefits.
He Got His Start At:
The New York University School of Law, where he received a J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation, and the University of Rochester, where he earned a B.A. in Mathematics with distinction.

About Matt Mintzer
Executive Vice President
What He Does at Pentegra:
As Executive Vice President, Matt heads Pentegra’s Sales and Marketing, Client Services and Operations areas, driving the client experience at every juncture.

Matt enjoys working with Pentegra’s exceptionally talented team and embraces the firm’s culture and true commitment to putting clients, colleagues, and community first. He looks forward to leveraging Pentegra’s fiduciary legacy and expertise to drive future business development efforts.
What He Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra:
With more than 30 years of experience in the retirement industry, Matt is a proven leader. He has been responsible for nearly every facet of the retirement business including business strategy and execution; retail and institutional sales and sales management; marketing and product development; national accounts structure and management; and research and public relations.
Prior to joining Pentegra, Matt was a principal at Eyes Up Consulting, where he worked with firms nationally to develop impactful product, sales, marketing, operations and distribution solutions designed to differentiate clients from the competition. His previous senior leadership roles include: Head, Advisor Retirement Business, JPMorgan Asset Management; Head, Advisor Retirement Business, AllianceBernstein (AB); Head, Retirement Marketing, Putnam Investments.
He Got His Start At:
Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance. He currently holds FINRA Series 7 & 63 licenses.

About Michael Palmiere
Senior Vice President & Chief Operations Office
What He Does at Pentegra:
Michael drives the execution of our strategic initiatives and organizational goals, and tirelessly works to help advance our operations in response to changing industry dynamics.

What He Likes Best About His Job:
A high energy, high impact professional, Michael relishes working with his team to develop, design and continuously improve the systems and processes that deliver Pentegra’s products and services.
What He Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra:
After serving as a Vice President at Drexel Burnham for four years, Michael worked as a Consultant at Noble Lowndes before being named a Vice President at Merrill Lynch in 1997. He then moved to become a Director at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and then Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, before arriving at Pentegra.
He Got His Start At:
Manhattan College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He also maintains FINRA Series 7, Series 66 and Series 24 registrations.

About Rich Rausser
Senior Vice President
What He Does at Pentegra
Rich leads Pentegra’s Consulting, Product Development, Marketing & Communications, BOLI and Non-qualified Plan Sales and Actuarial and Technical Services teams. Besides that, he’s an all-around good guy and Pentegra SmartPathTM champion.
Since joining Pentegra in 1997, he’s traveled the country to visit over 1,000 clients, helped develop and launch new and exciting products and services, and has continued to add to his more than 30 years of experience in the retirement benefits field. His extensive knowledge of the retirement plan industry includes a unique mix of small company and Fortune 500 level consulting work, as well as strategic product development.
What He Likes Best About His Job
Rich loves what he does every day, and it shows. His broad knowledge of the retirement plan marketplace and deep insights when it comes to customer needs have been instrumental in not only expanding Pentegra’s array of retirement solutions, but also helping us market them, and have made him a sought after speaker on retirement benefit topics. One of his favorite things to do is to share his knowledge to help educate people on the importance of retirement savings strategies and Pentegra’s SmartPathTM thought leadership in this area. His many media interviews can be seen on our website under ‘As Seen in the News’.
He Got His Start At:
Rich’s interest in business and finance began early when he attended Ursinus College and received a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration. He went on to earn an M.B.A. in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. His passion for retirement services is evident in his long list of professional credentials, including Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA), Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) and member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA).

About Charles S. Sorrentino
Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
What He Does at Pentegra:
Charles oversees our Finance area and is responsible for bringing vital financial controls to the organization. He plays an essential role in driving major strategic initiatives that impact Pentegra’s future and helps management make a tangible connection between the organization’s operations and financial performance.

What He Likes Best About His Job:
A thoughtful and experienced professional, Charles enjoys utilizing his deep knowledge of finance that includes accounting, controls, reporting, planning, and analysis, accounts payable and accounts receivable, to lead his team in handling significant quantitative and qualitative analysis and interacting with management throughout the organization to ensure that the business has strong support from the Finance function.
What He Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra:
Charles began his career as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young in 1989, and moved on to serve as Director, Financial Planning & Analysis at Sara Lee, after which he held the position of Worldwide Controller first at Honeywell and then at The Fram Group.
He Got His Start At:
Pace University in New York, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) and earned an MBA in Public Accounting.

About Peter Sprague
Senior Vice President Information Technology, Chief Technology Officer
What He Does at Pentegra:
Pete leads Pentegra’s Information Technology department. He spearheads Pentegra’s large scale integration of technology, processes and people to drive productive relationships between business partners, technology teams and our customers.

What He Likes Best About His Job:
Pete’s extensive knowledge of software and systems, combined with his deep insights and experience when it comes to customer needs have been instrumental in elevating Pentegra’s technology solutions. One of his favorite things to do is to bring together the right technology and processes to solve customer challenges. He is currently creating the technical vision and step-by-step build of Pentegra’s technology modernization program, including our new plan sponsor, partner and participant website.
What He Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra:
Prior to joining Pentegra, Pete spent more than fifteen years at Morgan Stanley, most recently as Executive Director, Field and Client Technology, where he led the Sales Technology and Global development teams, where he focused on creating technology solutions to expand client services and greatly increased the productivity of operations.
He Got His Start At:
Marist College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business.

About Scott M. Stone
Senior Vice President & Chief Investment Officer President, Pentegra Investors, Inc.
What He Does at Pentegra:
Scott leads our investment management team, where he is the driving force behind the management and oversight of the investment processes governing over $13 billion in assets comprised of both public and private holdings of fixed income, equity, real estate and alternative investments, including hedge funds.

What He Likes Best About His Job:
Scott has been an active investor for over 30 years. Over this time, he has accumulated a wealth of knowledge that he describes as “golden observation nuggets” and has transcribed them as a reminder of the humanizing capacity of the markets and as an insight into how we think. He loves sharing these with colleagues and clients, who stop by his office on a daily basis to take a look into his crystal ball.
What He Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra:
A Kansas native, Scott was an Adjunct Instructor at Sterling College, where he taught undergraduate level business courses, before becoming Vice President-Investments at Kansas City Life Insurance Company. Following 17 years there, he headed to Reinsurance Group of America, where he served successively as Vice President – Senior Portfolio Manager; Fixed Income Management; Investment Strategy & Research; and Non-Public and Alternative Investments.
He Got His Start At:
The the University of Kansas, where he earned a B.S. in Business, Finance, Marketing, and Quantitative Methods and an M.B.A. in Finance. Scott holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) professional designations.

About Colleen Zanicchi
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
What She Does at Pentegra:
Colleen oversees the development and implementation of Pentegra’s human resources policies and programs including recruitment, selection, retention, and Pentegra’s compensation and benefit programs. She’s also responsible for managing all of our offices and facilities and making sure our employees are comfortable and happy.

What She Likes Best About Her Job:
Colleen appreciates the opportunity to work with the Pentegra team to offer experienced, practical advice and support along with tactical problem-solving skills. She also serves as a major agent for innovation, progressive change and continuous improvement at Pentegra.
What She Was Up To Before Joining Pentegra :
Colleen began her career in 1981 as a Benefits Administrator at General Foods, after which she joined Phibro Energy as Human Administrator before moving on in 1992 to become a Human Resources Assistant Consultant at Aon Corporation. She’s now closing in on over 24 years here at Pentegra.
She Got Her Start At:
The State University of New York, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She also holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRIC) and the Society for Human Resources Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation from the Society for Human Resources Management.
